A Mother's Love

Eccentric comes from the Greek word ékkentr. It means to deviate from the recognized or customary character, or practice, ect. It also means to be irregular, erratic, peculiar, and odd.

To some my mother is the perfect example. Even I have witnessed her more than peculiar ways. On more than one occasion I heard her divulge our life history to complete strangers. Although it is quite embarrassing to be the topic of such conversations, I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my mother with every beat of my heart. I even find myself saying or doing things that remind me of her. I'm sure one day I will pass her legacy onto my children. It will be my way of remembering a wonderful lady.

A Remembrance and New Memories

Considering what day it is today it seemed fit to write about the word anamnesis.  It is the recollection or remembrance of the past; reminiscence.  And if you believe in it a recollection of Ideas, which the soul had known in a previous existence, especially by means of reasoning. It originates from Neo-Latin and Greek anámnēsis which meant remembrance.

It has been a crazy year. Between leaving my husband, having a baby, and then getting a divorce, it's a mixture of the best and worst year. Though I think giving birth to my son trumps any bad things that happened to me. It's a great way to start a New Year though, with a clean slate. Hopefully I have another chance at meeting someone who will treat me right and be a wonderful daddy to my son. Someone he can look up to and respect. Though I know I don't need anyone to be complete. If anything that is something I learned from my ex. My New Year Resolution is just to be a good mommy to my beautiful baby boy.

Baby + Sleep = ?

The word somnolent means to be sleepy; drowsy, or tending to cause sleep. It comes from the late (1425-1475) Middle English word sompnolent.

I know how this feels. Having a five month old baby boy is a full time job. Sleep is something I don't get very much of. It is getting better though. He only wakes up once or twice at night. During the day he's  a cat napper. The longest I can get him to sleep is maybe half an hour. I love him though. <3 He's always getting complimented on how happy and sociable he is. My little man is very friendly and avidly smiles at everyone. It's the greatest feeling in the world being a mother.

How Much Are You Worth?

The word vituperate means to use or address with harsh or abusive language; revile, criticize harshly. It comes from the latin word vituperatus which is the past participle of vituperare to blame, spoil. Synonyms of this word are censure, vilify, berate.

Unfortunately I was preyed upon for roughly two years by the man I had married. Everyday was a constant battle that left me quite exhausted. I felt as if any task I did was not good enough. When I tried to do things better I got the same response. Getting away from that situation has been the best thing for me and my little one. Life might not be perfect, I still have trials, but I no longer feel inadequate or worthless. I am a beautiful person and I deserve all the happiness in the world.

Human Experience

Looking through the dictionary I came across the word sublunary. It means situated beneath the moon; hence, of or pertaining to this world; terrestrial; earthly. We are then considered sublunary beings.

My father was in an accident a couple days ago. Although he made it out alive the lady in the van who caused it did not survive. He fortunately only received a fracture on his skull and some cracks on his hip. Though he will be laid up for about six weeks. With all these people I know getting hurt or passing away, it really makes me realize how fleeting life is. One can never be too careful or prepared. We are, in a sense, only human.

A Life Lost

On a mournful note a dirge is a funeral song or tune, or one expressing mourning in commemoration of the dead. Or any composition resembling such a song or tune in character, as a poem or lament for the dead, or solemn, mournful music.

Mourning the loss of a dear lady that passed away in a car accident I attended her funeral yesterday. It was a wonderful service with attendees numbering in the hundreds. She was such a kind and gentle woman. The world has lost a bright soul, and she will be sorely missed by all that knew her. <3

Dinner And A Show

The word menagerie is described as a collection of wild or unusual animals, especially for exhibition. It is also an unusual and varied group of people. It comes from French meaning household management which formerlly included care of domestic animals.

Every Sunday night such a group of unusual and varied persons meet for a potluck dinner. As I am made privvy to these get togethers I suppose I am included in said description. After a hearty meal, starting around 6:30, and the varying flavors of a store bought cake, usually chocolate, they converse until late in the night. Many topics are discussed such as recent world news, past events, and their unwavering religious veiws. Most of the time I just sit there while they prattle away like a bunch of gossiping women, most of them are men,  imposing their beliefs on each other. It is quite a comical event.
